Waterloo murder trial rescheduled

May 27, 2005 By admin

The trial of a man charged with murder in the shooting death of a Waterloo woman last fall has been rescheduled. Shawn Washington is scheduled to go on trial July 5th in Black Hawk County District Court. His trial was originally supposed to start this week, but a judge delayed jury selection to give defense attorneys more time to prepare. The 26-year-old Washington is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Thyanna Parsons. He’s one of seven people charged in the shooting, which happened at an after-hours party in Waterloo last October. Washington’s 21-year-old brother Joseph is also charged with first-degree murder in Parsons’ death, but officials say he’s working out a plea agreement and likely won’t go on trial.
