Standoff in Grinnell ends peacefully

An overnight standoff in Grinnell ended peacefully. Police Sergeant Randy Hanson says a suicidal man with a gun locked himself in a home about 11:15 last (Tuesday) night. He says police were told the man had a weapon, and that proved to be true. During the standoff, one shot was fired from the residence but no one was hit. Hanson says the standoff lasted nearly three hours.It ended about 2 A.M. with the man surrendering. The unidentified man was taken to a Grinnell hospital for a mental evaluation. Charges are pending.
