Man with spray paint shot by deputy

June 7, 2005 By admin

A Polk County deputy shot a man in downtown Des Moines this afternoon. Witnesses say a man who was spray painting words on a pick-up truck near the Polk County Courthouse was shot after a confrontation with sheriff’s deputies. The deputies apparently asked the man to stop his spray painting. He ran, then turned back to the truck and jumped on top of it. He swore at the officers, sprayed his black paint at a deputy, and then reached into his pocket, according to witnesses. That’s when a deputy shot him. The man was taken to a Des Moines hospital for treatment. No condition report’s available.
