Dallas Cowboy kicker Cundiff returns for camp

June 17, 2005 By admin

Dallas Cowboys kicker Billy Cundiff will return to his home state next week to host his second kicking camp. The Harlan native and former Drake University standout is entering his fourth season with the Cowboys and says the camp is June 25th and 26th at Drake. The camp is also open to punters. Cundiff says sever pro and college kickers will be on hand to give campers individual instruction. He says a lot of times at the big camps you don’t get a lot of attention. The camp is open to incoming freshmen in high school to incoming juniors in college. Cundiff says kickers are a unique fraternity and despite the competition for jobs they all get along. He says they have a guy who kicked for the Arena League team in Dallas and Cundiff says he doesn’t feel any competition. He says it’s similar to golf that if you play the best, then you’ll stay there as it’s not someone else beating you out. Cundiff breaks the mold of a typical kicker. He was a quarterback in high school and also played on the basketball team at Drake. He says the profile of a kicker is beginning to change. He says he’s finding a lot of good athletes at quarterback and linebackers who can kick. Cudiff says participants will trake home a customized workout plan that will help them get ready for August two-a-days. He says they try to tell them that there’s not one perfect way to kick. To register for the camp, you can go to billycundiff.com to get a form.
