Deadlines approaching for Iowa Games

June 20, 2005 By admin

Deadlines for nearly 50 of the sports in next months Iowa Games are coming up in the next week and-a-half. Executive Director Jim Hallihan says the first set of deadlines are Wednesday for some 47 sports.Hallihan says they are working to maintain the number of youth basketball teams that enter the summer festival but each year they face more and more competition from a growing number of summer leagues and team camps. He says they’re doing some things with camps in Des Moines by having them pay a fee and then being involved in the competition. Hallihan says the biggest numbers in basketball come in the open division. The Iowa Games are July 14th through the 17th and the 22nd through the 24th in Ames.
