Porject in Algona helps family with home makeover

June 20, 2005 By admin

There’s a community project to give an Algona home an “Extreme Makeover.” It’s a one-week project to renovate a one and–a-half story home built in 1945. The coordinator for the dozens of volunteers says the home was chosen because the owners, Loren and Stacy Sassman, have a 16-year-old daughter who has special medical needs. They’ll build Shawna a first-floor bedroom, and also a new bedroom for 4-year-old Jesse, who’s had to room with his parents up to now. Neighbors have given lodging to the family and will spend the week entertaining and keeping them busy, until Saturday when they’ll have a chance to see their newly renovated home.
