A Black Hawk County murder trial is postponed. A judge agreed to delay the trial of 23-year-old Joseph Lawrence until November 1st. Defense attorneys requested the delay to get more time to prepare. Lawrence, of Cedar Falls, is charged in the March 12th beating and stabbing death of Jason Gage, whose body was found days after the killing in his downtown Waterloo apartment. Court documents indicate Lawrence admitted to killing Gage, who was openly gay. Initially, the trial was scheduled to begin July 23rd in Black Hawk County District Court.
