Maucker died Tuesday at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls at the age of 92. He spent two decades at the helm of U-N-I, leading the school through extensive growth and two name changes from 1950 to 1970. During his tenure as U-N-I’s fifth president, school enrollment grew from 26-hundred students to nearly 95-hundred. Iowa State Teachers College became State College of Iowa, then the University of Northern Iowa. Memorials may be made to the U-N-I Foundation or Nazareth Lutheran Church.
