Hawkeye Downs Speedway sees lots of winners

July 6, 2005 By admin

The checkered flag has been passed around a lot this season at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids. With about two months still left in the season 38 different drivers have won feature races at the track and general manager Jim Amstutz says everyone benefits. He says it’s nice to see people be able to go to sponsors and tell them they won a race. Amstutz says the rules have helped create more competitive racing. He says they have the motor claim rule that keeps people from spending too much money on an engine and he says that keeps everyone on a level playing field. There are ten racing dates remaining and Amstutz expects the list of winners to grow even more. The racing continues on Friday night.
