New England woman comes to Iowa looking for murdered children

July 6, 2005 By admin

A woman from New England is expected to arrive in Iowa tomorrow (Thursday) to search for the bodies of her murdered children. Terri Knight of New Hampshire says her goal is to refocus public attention on her former husband’s description of the place along Interstate 80 where he said he buried the children after he killed them. Manuel Gehring confessed he shot the children after a July Fourth fireworks show two years ago, then buried them somewhere along I-80 between Pennsylvania and Iowa City. He committed suicide in jail last year. He said the bodies of the 11-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were buried in tall grass, near a water pump and a wire fence. Nearby were a tan or yellow building, firewood, concrete pipes standing on end and a concrete slab.
