A New Hampshire woman is in Iowa, searching for her murdered children buried along Interstate 80. Terri Knight’s ex-husband, Manuel Gehring, admitted killing the children before he committed suicide in jail last year. Gehring said he shot them after a July 4th fireworks show two years ago, then buried them somewhere along I-80. Knight says the search area is wide — running from Pennsylvania to eastern Iowa. Knight says one consistent piece of Gehring’s confession was that he had already buried the children before he stopped at a lake in Iowa City, as he headed west across the country. She says authorities have receipts showing Gehring did stop at that lake. He’d talked about the lake in detail in his statement to the F-B-I, how he found the hour there refreshing to go swimming — and that the children had been buried prior to that. Even with a description of the burial site from the father, authorities have not been able to find the bodies of 11-year-old Philip and 14-year-old Sarah Gehring. Knight says she’s not doing anything any parent wouldn’t do. She says when a child has been missing for two years, or ten years, the public might forget but the parents will never forget and just put it behind them. Knight’s website is “www.philipandsarah.com” and it includes a wealth of details about the case.
