Dow City man dies in boating accident

July 18, 2005 By admin

An accident on Iowa waterways has claimed another life, but the latest is not a victim of drowning. A Dow city man has died from injuries received in a weekend boating accident in Sac county. Twenty-two-year-old Wesley Head was fatally injured Friday evening when he fell off the back of a boat on black hawk lake, at which time his leg was cut by the boat propeller. Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say head was reportedly standing up when the boat shifted into gear, causing him to lose his balance. Head was airlifted to Loring Hospital in Sac City where he later died from his injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
