Woman dies in Des Moines crash, police say man in pickup may have rammed her car intentionally

August 4, 2005 By admin

What first appeared to be a deadly car accident early Thursday in Des Moines may have been much more. A woman was killed about 2:30 this morning when her car crashed into a tree in a residential neighborhood of northwest Des Moines. Police Sergeant Todd Dykstra (DIKE-strah) says investigators have determined a pickup truck rammed into the woman’s car -on purpose- before the crash. Dykstra says officers were called out on what was first thought to be a standard car wreck. Dykstra says it appears the accident may have been intentional and it’s being investigated as a possible homicide. The man who was driving the pickup is in custody and is being questioned. Sergeant Dykstra says it appears the two may’ve known each other before the crash. The nature of their relationship has yet to be determined, though he says this does not appear to be a random “road rage” case. No names have been released. No charges are filed.
