Harlan woman falls to death from scenic overlook tower

August 5, 2005 By admin

The bluffs of far western Iowa have proven deadly for a sightseer. A woman from Harlan was fatally injured when she fell from a scenic overlook in Pottawattamie County. 38-year-old Dawn Defenbaugh was reportedly standing at the top of an observation tower when she fell from the structure to the ground below. She was found by a passerby and a maintenance worker who called 911. The woman was airlifted to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, where she later died.
