Congressman Tom Latham has just completed a trip to six countries, including Poland and Hungary — two of the newest members of the European Union. Latham says Poland’s economy is “booming.” Latham, along with three U.S. Senators on the trip, met with Polish leaders and thanked them for sending troops to Iraq. Latham says the economy in Hungary isn’t progressing as quickly as Poland’s, but is making significant moves to embrace capitalism. Latham says both countries will be good markets for American products. “Trade is very, very important to both those countries,” Latham says. Latham also visited Iraq and visited with Radio Iowa Saturday morning while he was in Baghdad. On Saturday, Radio Iowa broadcast reports of Latham’s impressions of Iraq and you can read that story on-line at www.radioiowa.com.
