Authorities have released the name of the baby found dead last week in a vehicle in Mount Pleasant. One-year-old Payton Burchett was discovered, dead, in her car seat in the back seat of her mother’s car Thursday afternoon. Payton’s mother, Danelle Stainbrook, went to her job at six o’clock that morning and forgot to drop her daughter off at the babysitter’s. Outside temperatures on Thursday reached into the 90s, so temps inside the car reached at least 120 degrees according to research. The child was left in the car for about eight hours. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. It’s unclear what, if any, charges may be filed in the case. A hospital administrator from Perry forgot to drop her seven-month-old daughter at the babysitter’s and left the baby in a hot vehicle in June of 2001. She was charged with involuntary manslaughter and neglect of a dependent child, but acquitted.
