The warm dry weather hasn’t been much help to those who like a green lawn — but it has been good news for those who’re building the four new casinos in Iowa. Spokespeople for all four tell state regulators they’re ahead of schedule Toni Sigler is the project manager for the Wild Rose Casino in Emmettsberg. He says the site work grading and lake construction is about 95-percent complete and the underground utility work will be complete by the end of the month. He says they’ll start paving in the next two weeks — with the goal of getting as much paving done as they can before winter. Sigler says the buildings are also moving along. He says by the end of the month they’ll be about 90-percent complete with the casino structure and can begin enclosing the building so they can work on the interior through the winter. Natalie Schram of the Diamond Jo in Worth County says they’re also ahead of schedule. She says the exterior completion is set for the end of November. She says the project is supposed to be substantially complete by March, but she says they hope to get in sooner than that. Schram says they hope to open by the end of March or to the first week in April. Dan Kehl says they broke ground for the Washington County Casino near Riverside Casino in July and the site work is moving along. He says the next big package is the hotel structure and he says the bids should come in by October. He says they hope to get the hotel enclosed by October so they can work through the winter. Kehl says they still hope to meet their target of opening by next fall. Nancy Donovon of the Isle of Capri in Black Hawk County says they’re also ahead of schedule thanks to the weather. Donovon says they’re dong site work and still look forward to opening in the spring of 2007.
