The Iowa Hawkeyes open the Big Ten race with a visit to eighth-ranked Ohio State. The Hawkeyes are 2-1 on the season and with games this season at Purdue and Wisconsin they will need to win some big road games to make a run at the title. Coach Kirk Ferentz says they’ve already failed one challenge, and he says every game is a challenge and every step along the way is interesting and important. The Hawks have not won in Columbus since 1991 but posted a 33-7 win over the Buckeyes last year in Iowa City. Ferentz says the first two years his team at best was on training wheels and maybe a tricycle, while Ohio State was driving a truck. He says the last two years it has been a pretty even series. The Buckeyes have a dangerous pair of receivers in Teddy Guinn Jr. and Santonio Holmes that Ferentz says are just part of their weapons.
