Luther faces another big conference challenge

September 29, 2005 By admin

After snapping a long losing streak to arch rival Wartburg last weekend things don’t get any easier for Luther. The Norse take on the other defending Iowa Conference co-champ when they visit Coe. Luther coach Paul Hefty says Coe has done and outstanding job and know what they’re doing to win games in a tough league. He say Coe is solid on both sides of the ball with “incredible skill people” on the offensive side of the ball. He says they’re as sound as anybody on defense and don’t let you score when they get into the red zone. Coe is off to a 3-0 start and outstanding defense is a major factor. Kohawk coach Eric Raeburn says that unit will be tested by a Luther ground game that features running back Tyler Sherden who is averaging 160 yards per game. Raeburn says Sherden has 16-hundred yards in rushing in only about 10 games. He says Sherden leads the conference in rushing and scoring by a large margin and he is the number one concern. These teams are one-two in the Iowa Conference in turnover margain and Braeden says that is why both have been successful. He says that’s the only stat they led in last year and they want to do that again and win the conference. Luther is 3-1 overall.
