Funny money has been showing up over the last week in eastern Iowa.Waterloo police have received several reports of local banks and stores receiving fake 100-dollar bills. The phony currency has also recently turned up in other Iowa cities and towns. The bills are apparently of very good quality and tests done with color-changing ink pens apparently won’t work to determine if the bills are real. Police say to determine if a bill is a fake, hold it up to the light and look for “U-S-A 100” in a tiny strip next to the portrait of Ben Franklin. The letters should be red and blue. If the text is yellow, the bill is a fake. Anyone with information on the fake bills should contact their local law enforcement agency.
