Heart Association introduces home C-P-R training kit

October 17, 2005 By admin

The American Heart Association is now selling an at-home kit that teaches you how to perform C-P-R. Cindy Hughes of the Iowa Heartland Affiliate of the American Heart Association says 75 to 80-percent of cardiac arrests occur at home and they found that a majority of people who witness the arrest don’t know C-P-R. She says they hope the “C-P-R Anytime” kit makes it easier for people to learn the life-saving technique.

Hughes says the kit includes an inflatable mini C-P-R manikin called a mini-Ann, a training D-V-D and an instruction book. She says the kit teaches you all you need to know in 22 minutes. She says it’s very specific about how to administer chest compressions and how to administer the breaths. She says it also is specific in getting people to call 9-1-1 right away.

For people who might be worried about learning on their own, Hughes says she’s tried it out and the kit is very helpful. She says the have the manikin to practice on and the instructor on the D-V-D takes you through it several times. The kit costs about 30 dollars. Hughes says you can order one on-line at: www.shopcpranytime.org, or by calling your 1-877-A-H-A-for-C-P-R.
