I-S-U looks to overcome mistakes

October 17, 2005 By admin

Iowa State coach Dan McCarney says the Cyclones won’t start winning games until they stop giving them away. I-S-U fell to 3-3 overall after an overtime loss at Missouri which featured a number of key Cyclone turnovers. McCarney says they seem like “catastrophic mistakes” not just regular mistakes, throwing and interception for a touchdown, fumbling the ball at the goalline. McCarney says other than the mistakes, he sees a lot of good things, but he says until they take care of the football they’re going to have a hard time winning games in the Big 12.

The Cyclones are 0-3 in the Big-12, the same spot they were in 2004 before making a late run. McCarney feels this is a better team as he says last year they were 2-4 and really young. He says this is a better football team. McCarney says the last three games have been frustrating, as he says it’s a fine line between winning and losing.

The Cyclones host an Oklahoma State team that is also 0-3 in the Big-12. Coach Mike Gundy’s team is coming off a lopsided loss to Texas [email protected] He says they had too many turnovers and too many big losses. He says the team has a good attitude and looks forward to getting ready to play Iowa State. Gundy says the Cyclones are much better than than their record indicates. He says defensively the Cyclones have as good a defense as anyone.
