For the second time in three days, crews battled a fire on the University of Northern Iowa campus. Firefighters responded to the latest fire just before 6:30 this morning. Officials say the blaze was contained to a small utility structure adjacent to a residence building in U-N-I’s Hillside Court apartment complex. No one was injured, but students living in a four-plex apartment building were evacuated as a precaution. University officials say none of the apartments sustained damage. Firefighters believe the fire started in a trash bin and spread to a building that contains utility hook-ups. It’s the third round of fires on or near the U-N-I campus since Friday, but officials have made no connection to them. Fires in three separate campus buildings Sunday morning were apparently set. Last Friday, a fire at a student apartment complex near campus left nearly 40 people homeless. The fires are all under investigation.
