Farm accidents claim two lives

October 19, 2005 By admin

Two farm accidents in two days have claimed the lives of rural Iowans. Monday afternoon emergency responders were called to a farm co-op in Oakdale after a report that a grain bin ruptured as it was being filled. A man who’d been helping unload a truck was pinned between the metal of the collapsing bin and the truck. 42-year-old Scott Stamper of Mediapolis, an employee at Tri-Oak Feeds was dead at the scene. Louisa County officials say occupational-safety regulators may join their investigation into that case. Monday night in Kossuth County, a man from a farm northeast of Swea City was injured in a farm accident there. 45-year-old Steven Logeman was pronounced dead at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona but officials would give no details of the incident.
