Emerson farmer dies in accident

October 21, 2005 By admin

A western Iowa farmer was killed last night (Thursday) when a semi-truck collided with his tractor near the Harrison County town of Dunlap. The state patrol says a truck driven by 62-year-old John Miner of Emerson attempted to pass a farm tractor and wagon operated by 72-year-old Richard Grote of Dunlap. As the semi was starting to pass, the tractor began to turn left into a farm field, at which time both vehicles collided. Grote was killed in the accident. Miner, along with a passenger, 40-year-old John Miner Jr. of Glidden, were both transported to Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison for treatment of injuries received in the accident, which remains under investigation.
