Schleswig man dies in accident

October 27, 2005 By admin

A western Iowa man was killed, another injured, during a single-vehicle rollover accident early this morning (Thursday) in southwest Iowa’s Adams County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 34-year-old Scott Abe Gronau, of Schleswig, died when the pickup he was driving ran off the road as he was traveling northbound on Highway 148, one-mile north of Corning, at around one AM. Officials say the 2004 Ford F-350, registered to Kragel, Incorporated, in Schleswig, entered the north ditch off Highway 148 and rolled several times, ejecting Gronau and resulting in injuries to a passenger in the pickup, 43-year-old Timothy Craig Dozark, of Schleswig. The Patrol reports Dozark’s injuries were minor because he had been wearing his seatbelt. Officials said Gronau’s life would have been saved also, if he had been wearing his seatbelt. The pickup was totaled in the wreck.
