Residents of Cedar Falls are being asked to be more vigilant about locking up their homes and cars following a string of recent home invasions. Cedar Falls police have taken several reports of home invasion burglaries in the past few weeks in which a home is entered late at night while the occupants are asleep. The thieves enter through an unlocked house or garage door. Purses and wallets that are generally left on a table or desk near the back doors of the homes are taken. Vehicles have also been entered and two were stolen that were left parked in the driveways with the keys still in the cars. Residents are being asked to lock their homes and garages and place their purses, wallets and valuables out of site from someone looking into the home through a window. Police are also asking people to take their keys out of their cars.
