A Griswold teenager has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the fatal fire she set that killed two of her family members. Tracey Dyess was 17-years old when she set fire to her family’s home in Griswold, on March 31-st. Dyess says she set the fire in order to harm her stepfather, whom she alleges had molested her.

Dyess was charged as an adult, pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter — reduced from the original two counts of first-degree murder, in a plea-bargain with Cass County prosecutors. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and a charge of arson.

Dyess’ stepfather Brian Street is jailed awaiting trial after searchers in the burned home found explicit photos of the girl allegedly taken by Street.
