Jury selection underway in Clinton murder trial

December 5, 2005 By admin

Jury selection is getting underway this morning (Monday) in a Clinton County murder case. 52-year-old Maurice Walker Senior is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his ex-wife, 39-year-old Renee Walker, and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Steven Kersey, at the Clinton apartment they shared. The Walkers had been divorced about a year. Renee Walker and Kersey were co-workers at Nestle Purina in Clinton. Walker claims he was in Chicago at the time of the killings but prosecutors say they have evidence that indicates Walker was at the scene. The Walkers had nine children together and had moved to Clinton from Chicago about five years prior to the shootings. The children, who range in age from six to 19, have all moved back to Chicago. The trial is expected to last a week to ten days.
