Man dies in weather related collision

December 8, 2005 By admin

A two-vehicle, head-on collision this morning on an icy road in western Iowa’s Pottawattamie County has claimed the life of a Mc-Clelland man. Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says 66-year old James Reed died after his Mazda pickup was struck by an on-coming, out of control sports utility vehicle driven by 55-year old James Mc-Clain, of Ogden.

Both drivers where taken to a hospital in Council Bluffs, where Reed died from his injuries. Danker says Reed was not wearing his seatbelt when the accident took place on Highway Six and 300th Street, north of Treynor, just before 7:00 AM. The road was closed to traffic for about three and a-half hours while crews worked to remove the crumpled vehicles.
