Rural Aplington boy dies after accidental shooting

A rural Aplington boy’s dead after an accidental shooting in his family’s barn. 12-year-old Lee Wrich was in the barn’s hayloft by himself, when the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department says he accidentally shot himself in the head, around 6:30 Sunday evening. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Cedar Falls, where he was pronounced dead. The boy was a 7th-grader at A-G-W-S-R Middle School in Wellsburg and counseling was offered to students there.
