December 15, 2005 By admin

Appalachian State coach Jerry Moore learned his trade under former Iowa coach Hayden Fry. Moore will lead his Mountaineers against UNI Friday night in the 1AA chamopionship game and he became the head coach at North Texas State after Fry took the job at Iowa. Moore played for Fry in college and then worked for Fry for eight years at S-M-U. He says they’re extremely close and he has great respect for Fry.

Moore says he spent time at Iowa this past Spring when the Mountaineer staff visited different schools trying to pick up some new ideas. He says Iowa is a blue collar bunch. Moore says they weight room at Iowa is almost Gothic, with a door so heavy he could hardly open it.
