One person dead in Salix plant explosion

December 20, 2005 By admin

A fatal industrial explosion is under investigation south of Sioux City. One person is dead and another injured in a steam-release incident at the A-G-P soybean-processing plant near Salix this (Tuesday) afternoon.

Woodbury County Chief Deputy Greg Logan says two people were taken from the scene, and one later died. 16 months ago, two A-G-P workers died as a result of a hexane gas explosion. The state fire marshal’s office has started an investigation into the incident.
