There are some new regulations for air travelers today. They won’t take your sewing scissors away any more. The Transportation Security Administration’s decided small scissors and things like screwdrivers, pliers and wrenches up to 7 inches long will be permitted in carry-on luggage.

But don’t take that multi-purpose folding tool and no knives are allowed yet. The T-S-A says it’s fine-tuned its focus on things that realistically could pose a threat, and will be doing more random screening of passengers and their bags. They’ll use a variety of methods and security directors say part of the process will be not letting potential terrorists know what kind of inspection they might face before they can get on a plane.
