The Iowa Attorney General’s office has filed a charge of sexual misconduct with offenders against a Waterloo police officer. Bill Roach, a spokesman for the Attorney General, says the charge is against Sergeant Richard Knief for an alleged incident September 28th of last year.

Roach says the A-G is not at liberty to discuss the details of the case — but does say the charges alleged Sergeant Knief engaged in a sex act with a prisoner of the Black Hawk County jail. Roach says the case was investigate by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and charges were filed by the A-G’s office to avoid any conflict of interest.
