Iowa State was down by five at the halftime, but 9th ranked Texas pulled away in the second half to down the Cyclones 78-58 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Cyclone coach Wayne Morgan said on his Cyclone Network postgame show said they had a hard time stopping the Longhorns on defense. Morgan says they made mistakes on defense, especially defending the three-point shooter. Morgan says the problem is deciding who to defend.

Iowa State held the rebounding advantage in the first half, but Texas outrebounded them by double digits in the second half. Morgan says the other thing that Texas did was get the three point shot in transition.

Rashon Clark led I-S-U with 18 points, but Will Blalock was the only other Cyclone in double figures with 17 points. Iowa State is now 11-4 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas moves to 13-2 and 2-0 in the conference.
