A New Jersey man will serve five years of prison time for using the Internet to try and get an Iowa girl to have sex with him. Judge James Drew sentenced 37-year-old Richard Johanson Junior of Short Hills, New Jersey to the maximum sentence Monday in Hancock County District Court.

Johanson was arrested in Garner last May after Hancock County authorities discovered he had solicited a 14-year-old girl for sex via the Internet. Police received a tip from the girl’s mother who had posed as her daughter in a chatroom and discovered Johanson’s intent. Johanson was arrested on May 19th in a sting operation as he tried to lure the teen out into public. Johanson will also have to pay a 750 dollar fine and will be required to register as a sex offender.
