D-C-I will investigate tractor-taser incident

January 11, 2006 By admin

The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation will look into an incident in Crawford County where man was tasered after allegedly trying to run down deputies with a tractor. The incident happened December 26th when sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault involving a rural Manilla couple.

Deputies arriving on the scene say they were confronted by 51-year-old Daniel Hinners who allegedly started chasing them on a tractor. Deputies fired shots at the tractor tires to try and stop Hinners. Hinners then jumped off the tractor, but refused to surrender and deputies tasered him. Hinners is facing a variety of charges, including assault on a peace officer, interference with officials acts and domestic abuse assault.
