Door company wants to build plant in Shelby

January 12, 2006 By admin

A household door maker proposes a large new factory and distribution center near the western Iowa town of Shelby. The company is Midwest Manufacturing, based out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The proposed plant in Shelby would make pre-hung doors for Menard’s stores. The company is developing preliminary plans for the site and is in the final stages of negotiating incentives with the City of Shelby, Pottawattamie County, and the State of Iowa.

When these items are finalized, officials say Midwest Manufacturing will exercise its purchase option on 140 acres of land just off Interstate 80. Officials say if all comes through as planned, groundbreaking could take place this spring on a 735-thousand-square-foot plant. The plant would create up to 200 new jobs.
