The U-N-I women open a key three game homestand tonight by hosting Illinois State. The Redbirds have struggled with injuries and are 5-7 overall and winless in the Valley. Panther coach Tony DiCecco says the Redbirds have some kids back and he says that should make a big difference in their game. Center Cassie Hager averages over 16 and a half points per game but DiCecco says the Panthers need better perimeter shooting to open up the lane. He says if there is a downside, they’re having some trouble scoring the ball as he says the three-point show has left them. DiCecco says that may be putting a little pressure on them. The Panthers are 8-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
