Iowa women downed by Minnesota

January 23, 2006 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeye women fell to 5-3 in the Big Ten with an 80-68 loss at home to Minnesota. Balanced scoring and a 13-90 run to open the second half ley the Gophers.
Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says Minnesota is extremely balanced and says their bench outscored them 30-15 in the game. Bluder says her team was not focused to play defense in the second half.

Minnesota put the game away at the foul line as they shot 23 free throws in the second half. Bluder says it seemed like there “were almost two different games called out there.” Bluder says they didn’t change their style and for some reason Minnesota shot an “almost unbelievable amount” of free-throws in the second half.
Iowa is 12-7 overall and visits Penn State on Thursday.
