The Drake Bulldogs are on the road in the Valley to take on Wichita State. The Bulldogs are 4-5 in the league race after a 19-point loss at U-N-I. One bright spot in that game was the play of junior center Alou Keita who had 10 points in just 12 minutes of action, as Drake coach Tom Davis says Keita is starting to emerge a little. Davis says Keita was trying to do more and ended up doing less, which he says sometimes happens with big players.

Davis says Keita could give the Bulldogs a boost inside. He says that’ll be critical this week in their two games and he says improved play by Keita will be a good sign for the team.

The Shockers are 7-2 in the league race and one of four teams tied at the top. Wichita State coach Mark Turgeon says he’s encouraged because he thinks they can get a lot better. He says playing Drake offers a unique preparation. Turgeon says they know what’s coming and have a “tremendous respect for coach Davis and Drake and their system.” The Shockers are 16-4 overall. The Bulldogs are 11-9.
