Waterloo teacher resigns over charge of sex with a student

January 25, 2006 By admin

A Waterloo teacher who’s charged with having sex with a student has resigned. The Waterloo Board of Education this week accepted the resignation of 25-year-old Loren Gardner. The now former Hoover Middle School teacher is charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee. He’s accused of having consensual sex with a 16-year-old student last June.

The incident allegedly involved a girl who played softball at West High School. At the time, Gardner served as the team’s assistant coach. Gardner submitted his resignation effective January 11th. The Waterloo School Board unanimously accepted the letter at Monday’s meeting.
