Hakweyes look to keep home win streak alive

January 27, 2006 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to stay unbeaten at home when they host 16th ranked Ohio State. The Hawkeyes are 5-2 in the Big Ten after a victory over Indiana. The Buckeyes are 4-2 in conference play and 14-2 overall.

Iowa coach Steve Alford says they know they have an outstanding team coming in Saturday. He says O-S-U is about 16 points from being undefeated. With a victory the Hawkeyes will stay in the thick of the conference race. Alford says they just have to play the games and take care of business and control the things they do. Alford says it’s a chance for a fifth win against a top 25 team, so it’s a big game for them.

The Buckeyes have put up impressive numbers on offense but coach Thad Matta says the biggest key has been defense. Matta says his guys have a good understanding of the defense and how important it is to them.
Iowa is 15-5 overall.
