Mason City man charged in death of two-year old

January 27, 2006 By admin

Police have arrested a Mason City man and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of a two-year-old child earlier this month. Thirty-two-year-old Christopher McCoy was arrested Friday and charged with murder and child endangerment resulting in death. Authorities on January tenth were called to McCoy’s residence on a report that a child had fallen out of bed and was unresponsive.

The child, Riley Prazak, was transported from Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, where Prazak died three days later. Police say Prazak died from a traumatic closed head injury as the result of a probable assault. McCoy has been taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. The Iowa Department of Human Services assisted the Mason City Police Department in the investigation.
