U-N-I ranked for first time ever

January 30, 2006 By admin

For the first time in school history the U-N-I Panthers are ranked in the Associated Press top 25. The Panthers are ranked 25th and carry a 19-3 overall record and 9-2 Missouri Valley Conference record into Tuesday night’s game at Creighton.

Panther coach Greg McDermott says it’s something that he and probably a lot of people never thought was possible because of what you’re up against. McDermott says he is happy for the seniors on the team. He says they have invested a lot into the program and he says it’s good to see the national attention for all their good work.

McDermott says it will bring exposure to the program and the Missouri Valley Conference as the highlights are on E-S-P-N and he says that promotes both schools. He says it’s great to get the message out about the conference.
The Panthers are tied with Southern Illinois for the Valley lead.
