A Charles City man has pleaded guilty to federal charges of internet and mail fraud for a computer selling scam. Twenty-six-year-old David Martin admitted that he used e-Bay to fraudulently represent that he would sell computers or other electronic equipment, when he never intended to do so. Martin would get the payment from buyers in advance, but did not provide the computers or other electronics.

The scheme involved 15 victims and over 50-thousand dollars. He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids Wednesday to one count of mail fraud, and one count of wire fraud. Martin faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a 250-thousand dollar fine.
