Murder investigation underway in Council Bluffs

February 6, 2006 By admin

A homicide investigation is underway in southwest Iowa after the beaten body of a Nebraska man was found over the weekend in Council Bluffs. An employee at a nearby repair shop found the body in the back seat of an S-U-V Saturday morning. The S-U-V was parked along a street between the repair shop and a car dealership. The victim is identified as 23-year-old Filiberto Lopez Verela of Omaha. Police say he was apparently killed with a blunt object. An autopsy is being conducted today.
