Northeast Iowa infant dies after crash

February 10, 2006 By admin

A northeast Iowa infant has died after a crash earlier this week that killed her father and sister. Thirty-year-old Carl Leff of Lime Springs was headed west on a county road with two small children in his truck early Wednesday morning when the pickup left the road. The truck hit a bridge railing, went airborne, and rolled into a creek in the early morning hours, around 2 AM as far as investigators in Howard County could determine.

A nearby farmer spotted the truck around 7:30 that morning and called police, who arrived to find Leff and his 2-year-old daughter dead at the scene. An 8-month-old daughter, Katelyn, was taken to a hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, but died there last night.
