Three die in accident in Cherokee County

February 10, 2006 By admin

Three elderly women from Aurelia are dead following a two-car crash on the snow covered roads Thursday afternoon. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says 80-year-olds Theresa Fierk and Elaine Bengston and 81-year-old Dorothy Ann Harden were killed in the accident on County Road M-21.

Deputies say Fierk lost control on the fresh snow and slid into the path of a pick-up driven by a 16-year-old Jacob Krueckenberg Aurelia. Both vehicles received severe damage in the collision. Krueckenberg and a third passenger in the Fierk vehicle, 84-year-old Marjorie Robar from Alta, were taken by ambulance to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. The Iowa State Patrol and Cherokee County are still investigating the fatal crash.
